Find out how we operate
Julie Shin and Jared Howe, the co-owners of Charlotte’s Web ECC are the proud parents of four children ranging in ages of 24 to 5 year old Olivia, who attends Charlotte’s Web in our Preschool class. Julie started teaching Pre-K and Kindergarten for many years prior to moving to the United States and also served as the English Teacher for those schools she taught. She has always been fascinated by children’s language acquisition and it brought her to the United States to study language and continue her studies of early childhood education. Since moving to the U.S., she has been dedicated to learning different educational philosophies and teaching strategies which are different to her home culture.
While it has been interesting to see and compare two different educational systems and philosophies, she could notice strengthens and weaknesses in both practices and wanted to bring the strengths of both to her unique classrooms. She likes to practice different values and adjust to create most effective education system throughout her experience and education from both cultures, Korean and American. Based on her experiences she can use these diverse experiences to help children learn and practice collaboration with other children and family at the center, which ultimately helps their creativity and collaboration skills. As the generations are more open and linked whole world wide by technologies, giving children diverse environment and teaching them work together are very important for their future. Charlotte’s Web believes that adults should help children building a positive view to the world to live happy in their life. We aspire to make Charlotte’s Web the premier community based center in the South County area with collaboration of children, teachers, and families contributing to this center we strive for. Therefore, Charlotte’s Web aims that children become a good citizen and member of their community and success in their life.
